Responsibilities

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is seeking a Medical Director of Complex and Reconstructive Spine Surgery in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Job Description:  The successful candidate will be a motivated and energetic, experienced Neurosurgeon with an interest in rapid growth, program building and surgical excellence. We are looking for a dynamic person to lead a team of two and eventually three spine focused neurosurgeons, develop care pathways and improve operational processes. The volume and complexity of patients within our 9-hospital referral system is extraordinary. Significant block time each day is already dedicated to each spine surgeon in a very busy operating room. We often run three rooms a day and have administrative and anesthesia support for more including swing rooms. We have Leica microscopes for both brain and spine surgery. Navigation currently provided by Stealth 8’s and O-arm.

Expectations: We are looking for a developing leader who can meet the demands of a busy and complex spine practice. The organization has identified neuroscience as a growth opportunity and specifically to make our spine program a leading one in the state of New Mexico. Call is mostly spine related as there is no trauma and no high- volume stroke care, however simple cranial coverage is required. There are cranial neurosurgeons within the department ready to take on cases that are not of interest or are more complex.

Rewards/compensation:  We are offering the most competitive pay and incentive package on the market, with production bonuses and a high RVU conversion factor that will push the package upwards. We offer both a relocation and signing bonus. This is a very lucrative position for the right motivated person to bring our developing program up to the next level. There will be expectations for program growth milestones and productivity.

Credentials Required:

MD/DO with completion of ACGME or AOA-accredited residency in neurological surgery
Current New Mexico License required upon hire. Current DEA and NM CSR required upon hire.
Board certification or board eligible if within four (4) years of completion of residency, in neurological surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery or the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery in Neurological Surgery
