Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Assumes the attending role for palliative patients in the community and in Presbyterian units, unless followed by their PCP.
  • As a consultant, works with patient and family to develop a recommended plan of care supports appropriate medical treatment in concordance with the patient’s goals of care.
  • Uses clinical skills to relieve the suffering of patients and their families.
  • Provides support and oversight of the work of the palliative care team RN, APN or PAs direct patient care activities, as required by Medical Staff Bylaws.
  • Maintains coding and encounter data standards for completeness, accuracy, timeliness and reimbursement level including legible documentation.
  • Provides full and appropriate documentation of direct patient care services to support successful billing for all services.

Credentials Required:
MD/DO in a primary medical field appropriate to ABHPM standards. Five or more years experience. Fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine expected within 2 years of employment.
