Presbyterian Medical Group seeks a Physician Assistant, Certified Nurse Midwife, or Nurse Practitioner to join our established practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico.   • Inpatient OBGYN surgical and patient care
  • OR and rounding responsibilities
  • Seven days on, seven days off schedule
  • 10 hour shifts

Responsibilities

Summary:
Serves as an Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) with the OB/GYN inpatient service.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports OB/GYN inpatient service, as required. Remains in-house during assigned shift.
  • Assists OB/GYN physicians during emergency GYN surgeries and C-sections.
  • Works in concert with OB/GYN physicians in completing admissions and consultations, rounding, and managing patient care during the assigned shift in the ED and the hospital. This includes initial evaluations (H&P), documentation, writing orders and clinical disposition.
  • Available by phone and point of contact for secure group chat for nursing unit calls and ED consult requests, following up with OB/GYN as appropriate.
  • Serves as Floor APC to start patient rounds and visit and manage patients.
  • Prepares patient for discharge (prescriptions, teaching, post-surgical education) and dictates discharge summaries.
  • Checks all outstanding labs on in house patients.
  • Completes all patient care tasks assigned and ensures appropriate hand-off before ending shift.
  • Provides periodic midlevel outpatient clinic service.
  • Exhibits excellent communication skills with patients, families, and all healthcare providers and staff.
  • Performs other functions as required.

 

Other information:

 

The minimum requirements are as follows:
For Nurse Practitioner - Masters degree in Nursing, New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license, federal and state DEA license and ANCC certification required. Minimum of one year experience preferred but not required

For Physician Assistant - Baccalaureate prepared CAHEA Certified Physician Assistant or two (2) years working experience as a Certified Physician Assistant, and licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners required. Minimum of one year experience preferred but not required.

For Certified Nurse Midwives - Masters Degree. Graduate of a nurse midwifery program accredited by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM). 2+ years as a CNM preferred. Must possess, or be able to obtain, current unrestricted license to practice in the State of New Mexico as a CNM. NM Board of Pharmacy (CSR) and Federal DEA required.
