Presbyterian Medical Group seeks an Advanced Practice Clinician to join our established practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We're all about well-being, starting with yours. Responsibilities

Summary:
Clinic based advanced practice clinician working with pre and post operative patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgeries

 

Responsibilities:

  • Begins patient rounds at 0630. Sees post-op patients in CCC, CSC, writes progress notes, cleans up orders, transfer orders in CPOE
  • APC in operating room assists in having patient prepped, draped, and ready for surgical procedure.
  • Serves as CALL APC to start multidisciplinary patient rounds in CCC 0900, discharge planning rounds in CSC 0930. Removes pacer wires and chest tubes and drains as needed. Deals with issues on both units, atrial fibrillation, hypotension, pain management, stroke, bleeding etc.
  • Prepares post op patient for discharge (dc orders, prescriptions, coumadin clinic, writes orders for post-acute care, DME, post-surgical teaching, other referrals-HF, EP, renal, etc) and dictates discharge summaries.
  • Checks all outstanding labs and CXR on in house patients.
  • Responsible for seeing post op patients in office, signing HHC orders.
  • Responsible for seeing pre-op patients in office and doing H & Ps, data sheets, pre-op orders & labs completed.
  • Serves as CALL APC-relieve coworkers in OR prior to 5pm if possible, takes all phone calls from all nursing units, CCC, ED, HHC, outlying facilities if needed for patient management, transfer to PHS, postop issues-we take first call for all issues except for aortic dissections.
  • Checks pre-op patient labs, x-rays, orders. Call is from 7 am-7am 1-2 days per week.
  • Serves as Weekend call APC which requires rounding on all inpatients, all consults, preop orders for inhouse pts for the next week, taking first call as above this call is from 7am Friday 7am Monday.
  • Sees all consults for evaluation for cardiac surgery, lung surgery.
  • Performs other functions as required.

Credentials Required:
For Nurse Practitioner - Masters degree in Nursing, New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license, federal and state DEA license and ANCC or AANP certification required. ACLS, BLS.

For Physician Assistant - Baccalaureate prepared CAHEA program and NCCPA Certified Physician Assistant or two (2) years working experience as a Certified Physician Assistant, and licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners required. DEA, NM CS license, ACLS, BLS
