Presbyterian Medical Group seeks a Bariatric Surgery Physician Assistant to join our established practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We're all about well-being, starting with yours.   • Current team consists of two surgeons and one APC
  • Only bariatric program system wide 

Responsibilities

Summary:
Provides quality healthcare in collaboration with other healthcare providers in a bariatric surgery practice.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Performs history and physical assessments.
  • Attendance at bariatric surgery information seminar
  • Prepares post op patient for discharge (prescriptions, teaching, post-surgical teaching) and dictates discharge summaries.
  • Order, conduct and interpret appropriate diagnostic x-ray and lab tests.
  • Responsible for seeing pre op patients in office and ensuring H & P s, data sheets, pre-op orders & labs completed.
  • Involved in teaching and counseling individuals, families, and groups.
  • Assist in surgery.
  • Responsible for seeing post op patients in office.
  • Work autonomously as well as collaborate with other health care providers as needed.
  • Performs health maintenance activities.
  • Serve as health care resources, interdisciplinary consultants, and patient advocate.
  • Administers preventative health care methods.
  • Periodic hospital rounding on inpatients.
  • Performs possible in-patient health care.
  • Performs other functions as required.

Other information:

For Physician Assistant - Licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners required. Minimum of two years of prior surgical experience required.
