Presbyterian Medical Group seeks a Board Eligible / Board Certified General Surgeon to join our established practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We're all about well-being, starting with yours. Practice Highlights:

  • Week on/off schedule
  • Remains on-call in order to respond to any general surgery needs
  • Part of the Rust general surgery team
  • Bread and Butter general surgery cases

Responsibilities

Summary:
Physician follows standards of practice to provide direct quality care to patients. Assures that the patients need are met and provides open communication with patients, families, and other physicians. As a member of the PMG General Surgery group, physician provides elective general surgery support, inpatient care, consults, and surgical services to group patients.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and is accountable for the overall quality of care and clinical outcomes within the assigned facilities.
  • Treats patients, staff, and colleagues with respect at all times.
  • Is primarily in-house during hospital call days or available within 30 minutes of being called to meet the requirements of patient or physician needs in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates ability to change based on feedback and data.
  • Ensure both patient and provider satisfaction and develop plans for improvement.
  • Ensures that the medical record documentation is timely, legible (or dictated) and accurate for all patient interactions.
  • Is knowledgeable, timely and accurate in providing diagnostic and billing information on each patient interaction.
  • Is open to modify approach to provision of care, based on evolving aspects of practice and delivery of care models.
  • Participate in system-wide health management initiatives.
  • Provides input into the general surgery practice financial, clinical, and service quality performance; budget; capital plan; and personnel issues.
  • Attend and facilitate weekly sign-off meetings.
  • Attend and participate in all regular scheduled practice meetings to include but not limited to QI, Peer Review, Care Management and Sub-specialist/Medical group meetings as requested.
  • Provide real time feedback to PCPs regarding clinical and operational guidelines to optimize patient care and clinical efficiency.
  • Maintain coding and encounter data standards for completeness, accuracy, timeliness and reimbursement level., including legible documentation
  • Meet and maintain all provider credentialing and QI standards.
  • Participate in the development, adoption, and implementation process for clinical standards for surgical care.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, literature review, in-services, and workshops.
  • Work with Lead physician to ensure proper staffing and vacation/CME coverage of surgical hospitalist shifts.
  • Performs other functions as required.
