Presbyterian Medical Group seeks a nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join our established practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We're all about well-being, starting with yours. Practice Highlights:

  • Weekly mix of clinic, OR, and call
  • Call taken in rotation with the other APCs along with surgeons
  • Full spectrum of vascular surgery procedures performed
  • Team consists of four surgeons and five APCs

Responsibilities

The Presbyterian Vascular Program, a division of Presbyterian Healthcare Services, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Vascular Surgery team.

 

Summary:
Assists surgeons during vascular procedures/surgeries. Post procedure/operatively rounds on patients and manages patient care. Provides patient assessment/follow up in Vascular Clinic.


Responsibilities:

  • Assists surgeons with inpatient and outpatient procedures and major surgery
  • Closure of wounds
  • Medical Decision Making
  • Order and interpret lab and radiology results and formulate a medical plan of care according to protocols. Daily medical management of inpatients in collaboration with physician.
  • Round on hospitalized patients
  • Performs admission history and physicals
  • Performs discharge planning functions, family case conferences and dictates discharge summaries
  • Coordinate patient care and follow-up for vascular patients on the vascular service
  • Coordinate with OR and CVL to ensure proper equipment and supplies are available for surgical cases
  • Sees and evaluate new patients and completes history and physical exams and consultations in collaboration with physician
  • Presents patient to surgeons and assists in formulating a treatment plan, ordering appropriate lab and radiographic studies and performs office procedures; such as suture & staple removal, superficial wound debridement
  • Evaluate postoperative patients and routine follow up visits
  • See same day patients when required
  • Triage new and existing patients over the phone
  • Review ancillary reports with the physicians
  • Provide appropriate patient education
  • Review vascular and venous studies with patients and physicians to formulate a treatment plan
  • Review MRA and CT scans with physician to formulate a treatment plan
  • Coordinate surgical scheduling to ensure maximum efficiency in surgeon s schedule
  • Performs other functions as required.

Credentials Required:

Nurse Practitioner - Masters degree in Nursing, New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license, ANCC certification required.

Physician Assistant - Baccalaureate prepared CAHEA Certified Physician Assistant or two (2) years working experience as a Certified Physician Assistant, and licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners required.
