About Presbyterian Behavioral Health Program
Dedicated to improving the health of our community, Behavioral Health at Presbyterian offers treatment for lasting recovery from substance abuse, behavioral health conditions and psychiatric emergencies. Our full-service program supports adults, children and adolescents, and includes inpatient services, a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic, intensive outpatient treatment, emergency and consultative services and behavioral medicine services embedded in primary care.
Summary
Cares for child and adolescent patients referred for psychiatric inpatient care, then returns care of the patient to the appropriate outpatient provider at the time of discharge. The C&A psychiatry hospitalist is responsible for managing the care of inpatients and works collaboratively with nurses, therapists, case and care managers, care coordinators, consulting and primary care physicians and other facility-based healthcare professionals who comprise the patient¿s care team. The hospitalist leads the care team in providing efficient but compassionate care. Hospitalist also provides consultative services to Presbyterian emergency departments and to medical/surgical floors of Presbyterian Hospitals
Responsibilities
*Oversees and is accountable for the overall quality of care and clinical outcomes within the assigned facilities.
*Oversees and is accountable for all resource utilization within the assigned facilities.
*Ensure both patient and provider satisfaction and develop plans for improvement.
*Provides input into the hospitalist team¿s financial, clinical, and service quality performance; budget; capital plan; and personnel issues.
*Organize, attend and facilitate daily care team meetings within the assigned facility.
*Attend and participate in all regular scheduled psychiatric staff meetings
*Attend and participate in requested QI, Peer Review and Care Management meetings.
*Attend and participate in Sub-specialist/Medical group meetings as requested.
*Provide real time feedback to outpatient providers regarding clinical and operational guidelines to optimize patient care and clinical efficiency.
*Maintain coding and encounter data standards for completeness, accuracy, timeliness and reimbursement level, including legible documentation
*Meet and maintain all provider credentialing QI standards.
*Participate in the development, adoption, and implementation process for clinical standards for child and adolescent inpatient care.
*Work with the Medical Director and/or fellow child & adolescent psychiatrists to assure proper provider staffing, including vacation coverage.
*Participates in on-call duties in rotation with other child and adolescent staff psychiatrists as directed.
*Mentor and educate all new child and adolescent psychiatric hospitalists on PMG¿s service standards.
*Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, literature review, in-services, and workshops.
*Performs other functions as required.
